THE OLDESTMOUNTAIN HUT
IN THE BRENTA DOLOMITES.
THE STARTING POINT OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL HIKES IN THE CENTRAL BRENTA DOLOMITES
The Pedrotti mountain hut stands on a rocky crag just a few metres from the Bocca di Brenta pass tight in front of Brenta Alta. Its central location makes the rifugio an obligatory passage for all Brenta’s crossing form South-east to North-west: allowing easy access to famous hiked and vie ferrate (fixed rope routes) as the Via delle Bocchette.

“RIFUGIO PEDROTTI” IN A NUTSHELL
Rifugio Tosa Pedrotti is composed of 2 separate buildings closely located. Rifugio Tosa was the first structure to be built by SAT (Società Alpinisti Tridentini) in 1881 at 2.439 meters. The original construction was composed of a small single room hut. Over the years the Tosa has been expanded and today it is used as an annexe of the nearby Rifugio Pedrotti.
The second building, Rifugio Pedrotti, was built at the beginning of the XX century by the Bremen division of Deutscher und Österreichischer Alpenverein (DuÖAV – Club Alpino austro-tedesco) in the locality “Sella del Rifugio” between Cima Brenta Bassa and Croz del Rifugio with a height at above sea level of 2.491 m.
The ownership of this building passed to SAT at the end of a long legal controversy settled by the Supreme Court in Vienna in 1914.
After World War I the mountain hut was renovated and named in remembrance of Tommaso Pedrotti, brother of two SAT presidents.
